Die US-amerikanische R&B-Musikerin Santigold, die sich Ende April mit ihrem neuen Album "Master of my Make Believe" zurückmeldet, hat sich hinter den Kulissen wohl mit einigen Verantwortlichen ihrer Plattenfirma gezankt. Den Hinweis der Musikmanager, sie solle doch bitte schön etablierte Hit-Lieferanten wie RedOne (Lady Gaga) oder Stargate (Rihanna) ins Boot holen, bügelte sie empört ab. Immer noch empört verkündete die Künstlerin, die unter einer Schreibblockade litt, wie schaurig sie moderne Pophits findet: "Ich hasse 'LMFAO' und David Guetta. Aber die Plattenfirma sagt: 'Wo sind die Hits?'" Wie gut ihr Album nun läuft, bleibt abzuwarten.
We are writing you today for a very special reason. Brasstronaut has recorded a new album called 'Mean Sun', which is scheduled to be released in Canada on May 15th, and throughout the rest of the world early fall. The album was produced in Vancouver, BC at the Hive Studios with Colin Stewart (Black Mountain, Dan Mangan, Cave Singers, etc.), and represents a big leap forward for us as it was the first time an album was written and recorded with all six members contributing equally to the creative process.
Today we need your help
For the next month we are fundraising for the production, marketing and promotion of "Mean Sun" so that it may get the full-powered release that it deserves. With an expansive Canadian tour on the horizon, May 29-Jun22, we hope to deliver an amazing new set of songs and a unique stage show unlike anything we've attempted in the past. Brasstronaut is a totally independent band and have thus far, with a bit of help from grants and contributions from generous friends, funded all of our activities internally, so this is the first time we are reaching out to you.
We have set up a page at http://www.indiegogo.com/meansun where a great selection of rewards are being offered for varying levels of pledges, such as an advanced release of the record, or even the opportunity to have us play a private concert in your very own living room. And if you are outside of Canada, this is a special chance for you to get the album before we are able to release it in Europe and abroad.
